Bio for Cheryl Oliver

Cheryl Oliver was born in Arlington, Virginia and grew up where local news was National news. She graduated from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. Cheryl is an author, speaker, historian, genealogist; and a member of the DAR, UDC, DOJ in VA, CD, and qualifies for descendants of the Mayflower. Her first ancestor came over to Virginia in 1608. Other ancestors came in 1617, some settled in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, and Louisiana. On her mother side some settled in Massachusetts, New York, and Pennsylvania.

Cheryl has lived in South Carolina for well over 13 years. She lives in Summerville, SC where she enjoys being in warm weather and activities with Tim. Cheryl enjoys gardening, visiting historical sights and nature. She is a professional genealogist and a member of the National Genealogical Society. She participates in history related activities: the Magnolia Cemetery Ghost Walks, the H.L. Hunley Memorial Services, Memorial Services throughout the south, several parades in South Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia. She enjoys attending and participating in reenactments. Cheryl has been a speaker at many organizations, museums, honor and awards ceremonies, genealogical and historical societies. Her books have become popular, and her greatest joy is educating and sharing history.

Bio for Tim Hilton

Tim Hilton was born in Charleston, South Carolina. He is a speaker and a historian. Tim is a member of the SAR, and SCV, and qualifies to join the descendants of Mayflower. Tim’s first ancestor that came to South Carolina was Captain William Hilton who mapped out from the lower part of Virginia to the tip of Florida. Hilton Head Island was named after his ancestor Captain William Hilton. Tim’s ancestors cover Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.

Tim has lived in South Carolina his whole life. He lives in Summerville where he is a 3rd generation master plumber, heat and air professional. Tim has been a member of the H.L. Hunley SCV camp for 23 years. He enjoys taking part in reenactments with his cannon and cannon crew

Tim is Cheryl’s Book and events manager, and subject editor. He works with Cheryl in doing research and doing presentations. Tim has spoken to many organizations, ceremonies, historical societies, and SCV camps.
